During my time at IINE, Elsa took on the role as not only my manager but my mentor. She allowed me to grow and turn ideas into realities, but made sure I kept expectations realistic. I was fortunate to work with Elsa when she managed the Diversity Fellows Program through the Association of Fundraising Professionals Massachusetts chapter (AFP MA). She gave me tips on how to work with my mentor, gave insight on how to network, and most importantly, gave us an affinity space where we could see diversity in the field, a view many of us don't have at our places of work. Elsa cultivated a special community that reminded me that my diversity is an asset and not a liability.

As a passionate and purpose-driven leader, Elsa worked diligently to create a positive environment where all voices were elevated and heard. This was highlighted especially through her work in helping lead UW's internal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts where she led DEI workshops and trainings for all staff. A lot of the DEI knowledge I know today that I still use in my work stems from Elsa's leadership on this topic.
